2026-06-25-More Changes at the Booklight

June 25, 2026

The Book Light is undergoing another shift. The public web has become a slop house of AI and inattention. Part of the dissatisfaction with the present model, particularly with the domain system, are the issues of signal spread and censorship. Therefore, The Book Light has opted to leave the main World Wide Web, possibly forever. Writing books is possible because authors are paid to write them, although often times they are not paid well. A project like The Book Light needs hypothetical remuneration as well to make the time spent doing it worth the time removed from attending to other matters. Otherwise, it is solely a hobby, and like most hobbies, does not require an audience to have value to the person or persons that enjoy(s) doing it.

Moving forward, The Book Light will be available to those that have the link which will not be a World Wide Web link tied to a domain name in the common way of the present internet. It will be accessed via a private link that is routable from the World Wide Web. It is private by design, however, instead of public. This means that the main aim is not to gain readership or spread awareness of authors or works as a first principle. Rather, it will be more of a "as The Book Light staff" gets around to it and shares the link with a private circle. This makes the value proposition sustainable since "spare time" can be re-purposed to "Book Light" time.

Perhaps the world and the web will change and move back to some better version of its previous incarnation. Maybe not. Either way,  The Book Light lives on!

Hop aboard your private flight, if you have been invited!
